Good morning my sweets! Welcome to the second post on the Now We Rise Blog Tour!

I hope you enjoyed the aesthetic I made for the first part of my Now We Rise Blog Tour. Today’s post is my full review of the book. I was really worried that I wouldn’t get this up on time as it took me soooo long to gather my thoughts on it

Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zelie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls. But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were targeted and killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope. Now, Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good. Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers—and her growing feelings for the enemy.

In the beginning

Okay, so the beginning of this journey for me was very, very unexpected. I received an email from the lovely Beatrice at Macmillan, on behalf of MyKindaBook asking if I would like to take part in the blog tour. I don’t think I took a breath for a whole two minutes. Even before this email I was aware of the book and I really wanted to get my hands on a copy. I received it at the end of February and was a little worried that I wouldn’t have the time to read it before the tour. Boy, was I wrong! Once I started it on one cold snow day, I could not put it down!

All the feels

I really don’t want to spoil the book for you all, but I will tell you. This book gave me all the feels. It broke my heart and gave me hope all at the same time. The world is so vividly constructed that I could picture it perfectly within my mind. That cliff-hanger though? My goodness…. I have no words…..

Worth the hype?

It is always risky diving into a book that has as much hype as this one. I was a little worried when I first picked it up that it wouldn’t be able to live up to my own expecations. Let me tell you, it is totally worth the hype. The story is exquisite. The writing is stunning. The story is so perfectly done, I don’t there there are adequate words to describe it. The pace is spot on and kept me totally enthralled throughout.

So how did I rate it?

You can probably already tell from my gushing above that I rated this book 5/5 stars. I would even go as far as to say this will probably be one of my all time favourites. While Children of Blood and Bone has been compared to many brilliant YA fantasy books, I think it would be unfair to do so. This book deserves so much praise in its own right and I cannot wait for the next book!
