My TBR Jar

Posted by

I’ve always seen people post about their stupidly cool TBR jars and I have always envied them. Well now I have one of my own! You probably already know that I am a massive Harry Potter fan but you may not know that I am also a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. My TBR jar comes in the form of an Alice in Wonderland teapot, courtesy of Whittards. This is new concept for me, one that I decided to adopt because I simple could not decide what to read, and now this ‘jar’ takes the decision out of my hands! I’ve decided to pick two on my first go as it’s the weekend (Saturday evening as I write this) and I will probably read two books over the course of this evening and tomorrow. This is unless I pick out The Stand by Stephen King… which is around 800 pages long…

And here they are! I honestly couldn’t have pick two more different books if I tried!

Loop of Jade by Sarah Howe is a poetry collection that “explores a dual heritage, journeying back to Hong Kong in search of her roots. Crossing the bounds of time, race and language, this is an enthralling exploration of self and place, of migration and inheritance, and introduces an unmistakable new voice in British poetry”.

While Winter by Marissa Meyer probably doesn’t need much of an introduction as it’s the forth and final instalment in the incredibly popular Lunar Chronicles series. “Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mark her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana. Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?”

It’s fair to say that I super excited to read the both of these and am very pleased with my first foray into the TBR ‘jar’ thing. I should probably get to reading now… I have around 800 pages to read this evening and tomorrow if I plan on meeting my goal…

Do you have a TBR jar or something similar? Let me know in the comments down below!

Peace and pages

  1. Your TBR is gorgeous!!! My jar is literally a mason jar painted and then it has a chalkboard sticker on it. (It’s in some of my photos for readathons and wrap ups) it’s currently empty because it got stuffed to the brim with books I bought in 2017 and haven’t read, plus I’m a mood reader. I’m thinking of just putting my priority books in there.

    1. Thank you! I was going to buy myself a jar and then remembered I had this! Figured I may as well use it for something! I’m a mood reader too, but my 100+ TBR is getting beyond, so I have to read one TBR book per two others… I’ll never get through them otherwise!

  2. Your TBR is gorgeous! I’ve never had a TBR jar but I think it would definitely be a good thing to try sometime. Look forward to see how your TBR progresses and hope you enjoy the books!

      1. You can always try but don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t. Well Your TBR teapot is gorgeous and I want one now! haha

  3. I had a TBR jar in an attempt to read some of the books which had been on my TBR list for ages, but I found I was picking books and deciding that I wasn’t in the mood for them, so when I moved I didn’t bother starting them up again

    1. I should add my ebooks to my jar! What a good idea! I buy so many with the Kindle Daily Deals and only end up reading them when I go on holiday because I prefer physical books and can never pack enough books to take away that would keep me going for the whole holiday! I’d have to take another suitcase hahaha!

      1. You really should! I honestly just don’t read them because I forget about them. I’m trying to do a nice mix at the moment between the two which is helping a little (thanks mostly to netgalley)
